I'm 58. Before 2020 would not have said this. But after the last four years, I'm determined to die a few years early at home rather then spend one moment of my last years forcibly masked, medicated, and isolated in one of these horrific places.

I dread the upcoming ‘high risk’ season because every facility I visit each week- nursing homes and assisted living facilities alike- have staffing challenges that are worse now than ever before. The daily staff call-offs and poor quality of job applicants is endangering our seniors in ways I don’t believe are yet understood.

Agreed! Just wait til majority are broke from paying pool staff and have to close! It’s going to be an epidemic, but maybe that was the plan all along?

I am not in agreement with any forced vaccinations for any age group INCLUDING the elderly in care homes. In the care home where my family member resides, they absolutely refused to check on residents vit d levels - this is in a northern climate in Canada where my dad has not gone outdoors for over a year. Yet they sent out a newsletter touting how important it is for us relatives to get vitamin d and sunshine. I’m convinced they do not have the intention of keeping residents alive.

This situation is applicable in most of the western world where the ageing population is becoming a burden for society and the economy. The push for new laws in Europe for assisted dying is. a clear sign of de-christianity, of ultra "liberal" economy and deterioration of living standards among the general population. I believe that the doctors and all the medical profession are going to offer assisted dying starting age 75 (considered as the age when any single heath issue becomes a negative balance risk/benefit). More and more people will agree as society subliminal message is : time to go.

Breaks my heart. Thanks GeroDoc for the update, the reminders of how still the suffering continues, and mostly for your advocacy for this population of elders.
