First off - that’s super nice, very validating, super sweet. Thank you thank you!
Second, yes, I’m not taking payment for GeroDoc yet. This is something I’m doing as self therapy, but also, of course, for advocacy (because I believe in the things I’m saying). It feels weird to consider the idea of taking money for what I write here to inform, edify, entertain, and fire all of you up.
If (or when) I decide to turn on paid subscriptions for this Substack, I want to be very clear: I plan on keeping all of my advocacy substack articles about “nursing home prison” and etc. completely free. It’s a public service, along with likely most of any other articles about aging, geriatrics, etc.
Congratulations, GeroDoc!! I've enjoyed your posts. There is so much to talk about in the elder care community. Much of the treatment of your residents is driven by the licensing bureaucracies which vary state to stete. I wonder how much commonallity there is across the country.
I'm in an adjacent field (home care) where I see a lot of fear driven by the media. People are hesitant to get home care - they are often reluctant to admit the need - and then a fall occurs and they visit GeroDoc in a nursing home. Forunately, it is getting better now.
You are welcome, your dedication is graceful and I are grateful

Thanks for your advocacy, it makes a difference.
Congratulations! Much deserved.
