Although you could maybe point to political progressivism within the field or the fact our clientele are by definition high-risk of COVID complications… I’d say the main reason why geriatricians don’t speak out about the harms of lockdowns is because geriatrics is a grossly underpaid specialty.
It’s difficult to find decent-paying work, so any geriatrics professionals (like me) who find a job are loathe to rock the proverbial apple cart.
