I wonder how many old folks died as a result of loneliness and depression during the height of the restrictions? I personally know of a couple who just stopped eating and faded away. The cruelty of some of these policies boggles the mind.

I’m beginning to think that all of this is intentional- by whom I don’t know- to further isolate all of us as human beings. A sort of population control if you will. It’s done under the guise of “protection” when it is anything but. The more isolated we are, the more vulnerable we become and the more controllable we become.

Yes yes yes from here, where 10 min ago I was instructed by a machine to “step closer” for another inaccurate “temperature check” then reminded to wear a mask, follow proper distancing procedures, and use hand sanitizer before entering the building.

At least they have ditched the face shields, and family can visit all day.

Onward to the Monday routine.

Any one of these almost entirely pointless activities is arguably a minor annoyance on a practical level.

Taken as a whole - these ongoing measures disincentivize visitations by the elderly, disabled, those that live far away, those with medical (or perhaps psychiatric) issues that make masking a hassle or even potentially dangerous.

Why do we still have an entire panoply of these hindrances & disincentives on visitation in nursing homes still in place? Everyone is vaxxed & multi-boosted. According to many metrics, the risk of C19 for older adults is now less than that of contracting the flu.

We’re continuing to trifle with the psychosocial forces of despair (loneliness, isolation, depression) that we’ve known for years literally kills LTC residents - all to maintain this ongoing social narrative of being “in a deadly pandemic.”

When I was a Covidian, I questioned another Covidian on the wisdom of Cuomo's policy of releasing infected nursing home patients back into care while they were still infectious.

"What did you expect him to do?" she snarled.

But she was all in favor of extreme measures like ventilation, which proved to be of no use.

I hate these people.
